Call 811

Before starting any digging project, call 811 to protect yourself from unintentionally striking an underground utility line. This one easy phone call, made at least two business days prior to every digging project, notifies affected utility companies of the intent to dig and enables them to send a professional locator to the proposed digging site to mark the approximate location of utility lines. Striking an underground utility line while digging can cause damage to the environment, serious personal injuries, disrupt service to an entire neighborhood and potentially incur fines and repair costs.

811 is the national number designated by the Federal Communications Commission to help protect do-it-yourselfers, gardeners, landscapers and contractors from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects - both large and small.
